BodyVive™ 10

What better way to celebrate 10 BodyVive™ releases than with a party! The release is kicked off with the fitting track Celebration by Kool & The Gang. There are no tricky moves in this track so once you’ve set up clear directions, get the party started!

There’s no stopping until the Heart Fitness block is over and this really gets your motor running! But the music and moves are so awesome that chances are you won’t even notice. Technotronic’s Get Up! (Before The Night Is Over) has you moving your body with Hamstring Curls and Squats and you’ll be twisting and singing along to the “na na nahs” in Wilson Pickett’s Land Of 1000 Dances. Before you know it you’ll have Powerwalked and Scoop-Stepped your way through Dan Hartman’s Instant Replay.

The final intensity in the Heart Fitness block is built through three levels in Track 5. The Knee Repeaters, 2-Steps Side and Skater move will push you to your limits and you’ll feel euphoric having reached your potential. Remember – you were Born To Be Wild!

Catch your breath in Track 6 as you move into the Functional Strength block. Look forward to the new move – the Assisted Side Stretch. Squats feature once again in Track 7, building leg and butt strength. You’ll feel the burn in the intense shoulder and back workout in Track 8 as you sing along to Bon Jovi’s Livin’ On A Prayer.

You only have to tie yourself up once in Track 9 and there’s just one rule – and that’s to keep the tension on the Vive™ tube at all times! Destiny’s Child will have you feeling Bootylicious and ready to take on anything!

Shirley Bassey’s cover of The Beatles’ Something is the perfect way to release, restore and congratulate yourself on giving it your all in this BodyVive™ celebration release!

BodyCombat™ 39

Picture yourself fighting one-on-one in the cage – Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) style – and that’s BODYCOMBAT™ 39. You’re going to learn the skills you need to hang on until the last round so get ready for some combo-heavy tracks and lots of repetition.

To get a taste of an authentic UFC you’re going to need to get warmer faster as ultimate fighters are among some of the fittest athletes in the world. So that’s what the Warmup is all about, with a focus on keeping light on your feet.

Get ready for one of the longest combos ever seen in a Power Training Track in Track 3 – can you believe there are 16 Punches in a row? The power for the huge combo comes from the core of your body and motivation from rocking track Come With Me.

Two different types of energy are needed in Track 4. The Knee Combo is fun and light but you’ve gotta be tough during the Back Fist/Side Combo. Scooter vs. Status Quo’s Jump That Rock (Whatever You Want) harnesses the energy perfectly.

There are six solid rounds of identical choreography in Track 5 which also features the Power Squat. Pink’s in the house in Track 6 and you’re gonna want to start a fight during So What. There’s no recovery and you’re trying to knock your opponent out with every punch!

A new move, the Step Over Cross, features in Track 7. This is awesome as it can be used in both an offensive and a countermove situation. Make sure you hold something back for the last 60 seconds of continuous Knee Strikes!

Your muscular endurance is certainly tested in Track 8 where the challenge is to never step out of the intensity. Track 9 is void of conventional Situps and instead uses the Hover and Side Plank to work all of the core muscles. The apt lyrics of Infernal’s I Won’t Be Crying help you through this intense track – even though you might feel like crying by this stage!

What's better - Steam or Sauna?

Know where to go to heat things up and cool off the stress.

HEALTH BENEFITS
Sauna: As your circulatory system feels the heat, it starts working harder. "The blood-flow boost can lower artery plaque, which is the primary precursor of heart attacks," says Angela Bonner, spa expert. Time to stock up on some dry heat eh?
Steam Room: "Breathing and holding in the hot, moist air relieves muscle soreness, as well as improving airflow in the lungs to loosen tight airways and relieve asthma," says Dr Atul Mathur, director of interventional cardiology, Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, Delhi.
Result: DRAW

WEIGHT LOSS
Sauna: You can lose up to 500gm in 10 minutes. Japanese researchers found saunas actually work your heart hard enough to constitute light exercise.
Steam Room: You can lose up to 125g in 10 minutes. Your heart won't be working as hard as it would in sauna therapy, so virtually every gram of weight you lose will be in the form of sweat.
Result: SAUNA WINS

SKIN
Sauna: "Your capillaries will dilate more to push the heat out of your system, but your body will sense the dry heat and try to resist, in order to retain moisture, trapping dirt in your follicles," says Dr Shehla Agarwal, a New Delhi-based dermatologist.
Steam Room: "The 'wet heat' encourages your pores to open more fully, which helps release dirt and chemicals trapped in them. Best shower afterwards if you don't like the 'sticky' look," says Dr Agarwal.
Result: STEAM ROOM WINS

RECOVERY
Sauna: A recent study in the University of Otago found a post-workout sauna can actually impair recovery. "A cold plunge will help you recover faster," says Vishhal Chand Mehra, spa director, Ranjit's Caasa, Heritage boutique, wellness resort and spa.
Steam Room: "The steam will ease your breathing and you're less likely to suffer dehydration than in a sauna, which basically gives your body a greater chance to recover," says Mehra.
Result: STEAM ROOM WINS
